Your Car Isn’t The Only Thing That Needs Scheduled Oil ChangesSchedule Your Compressor Oil Change with Pye Barker

As a young boy when I would spend time with my Granddaddy, who was an auto mechanic, he would always tell me, “Son, when you grow up and get your own vehicle, there’s one thing you have to remember, always change your oil! The gas will take care of itself, but you must maintain the oil.” As I’ve gotten older and purchased my own cars, I have remembered what he told me. My Granddad changed his oil every 3,000 miles exactly. While I’m not that precise I do keep a close eye on my mileage and try to keep it as close as possible to the recommended change intervals.

Well, a car engine isn’t the only thing that uses oil and needs changing on a frequent basis. Your air compressors are another important item that uses oil, and if it’s not properly maintained, it can create the same financial headache that a blown car engine will.

Just like a car engine, compressors come with factory warranties, but if they are not properly maintained then the warranties will be voided. Compressors have recommended service schedules, but it will vary depending on the type of oil your using and what temperature the compressor is operating at. It is important that you find out the recommended service intervals for your compressor and stay on schedule as close as possible.

As with maintaining your car, there are options for servicing a compressor. You can do-it yourself or have someone do the service for you. If you prefer to maintain your air compressors yourself then you can contact your local distributor and purchase a service kit. A service kit will come complete with the appropriate amount of oil and all of your filters. Once the kit is received you can simply drain the oil, remove all the old filters and replace with the new ones and you’re done. The other option is having your local certified service tech come and service the compressor for you. They can also give the compressor a quick checkup and make sure everything is running ok.

Whichever choice you decide to go with, make sure you maintain the oil in your compressor.

And don't forget to ask about our complimentary Oil Analysis Report.
